5 Tips For Boosting Your Immune System

In the wake of a worldwide pandemic, it’s in everyone’s best interest to stay as healthy as possible, especially if you’re over 70 years old. Boosting your immune system is one of the best ways to steer clear of nasty bugs, and fight off infection. So, here are some of the best tips for building and maintaining a strong immune system.

Take Vitamins

Other than eating a healthy diet full of all of the right nutrients, taking supplemental vitamins is a great way to boost your immune system by building it up even more.  Food doesn’t always have all of the nutrients we need, so taking supplemental vitamins is a great way to give ourselves that extra push to make us even stronger. Consider taking a daily multivitamin as well as vitamin E, vitamin B, and even probiotics to keep your gut healthy.

Get Exercise

Even though you might not think that exercise has anything to do with your immune system, the truth is that it does. Getting regular physical activity is a great way to boost your body’s circulation, which gives your body the power it needs to fight off infection and disease.

Statistics show that working out an average of 30 minutes a day makes you more resistant to illness. The best part is it doesn’t have to be intense exercise, either. Something as low impact as walking or swimming can make a difference in your body’s well-being.

Get Sleep

When you sleep, your body has the chance to regenerate itself and fight off illness or any infections. The more that you sleep, the more resistant you’ll be when you come into contact with bacteria or viruses. Try to prioritize getting at least eight hours of sleep at night, and you’ll notice that you’ll be less susceptible to illnesses that are floating around.

Minimize Your Exposure To Stress

Stress is more than just a feeling that leaves us feeling helpless and overwhelmed. Too much exposure to stress can actually affect our bodies’ ability to stay healthy. Our stress response suppresses our immune system’s ability to ward off threats. Not only that, but stress affects our mental health, which can also play a role in how well we are able to resist sickness. Handling stress can vary depending on your unique circumstances. Some people may find deep breathing techniques help them calm down, while other people prefer eliminating toxic situations and people from their lives altogether.

Get Immunized

Get familiar with the latest vaccines and stay up to date with the ones you need. In most cases. vaccines are much safer than catching the disease itself.  So make sure that you do your research on the ones that you should have, and the ones that you should be boosted for.
